A Sharesight alternative built on open banking, not CSV imports.
Sharesight is a strong portfolio tracker - especially for capital-gains and dividend reporting in the UK, AU and NZ. Bank AI takes a different angle: instead of asking you to import broker statements, it connects to your brokers, ISAs, SIPPs, PEAs and assurance-vie wrappers through PSD2-licensed open banking, refreshes daily, and adds an AI assistant on top. If you live in the UK or EU and want one app for cash, investments and crypto, it is the closer fit.

Honest framing first
Sharesight is a category leader for portfolio tax reporting. We don't want to talk you out of using it if it's the right fit. Here's how we'd describe the choice.
Switch to Bank AI when
You bank in the UK or EU, you hold positions across more than one broker (and probably an ISA, SIPP, PEA or assurance-vie wrapper), you'd rather not reconcile CSV exports every month, and you want cash, investments and crypto in one daily-refreshed view with an AI you can ask questions to. Bank AI is built for that exact picture.
Stay with Sharesight when
You need detailed capital-gains tax reports, dividend tax reports and benchmarking out of the box - especially in markets like Australia or New Zealand where Sharesight is the de facto standard. Tax-report depth is Sharesight's edge today; we surface tax wrappers and let you ask the AI questions, but we are not a replacement for a fully-formed CGT report.
Bank AI vs Sharesight - feature by feature
Comparison based on the published Sharesight feature set as of 2026-04-27. We've tried to be fair; if anything is out of date, please tell us at hello@stolenorbit.com and we'll fix it.
| Feature | Bank AI | Sharesight |
|---|---|---|
| Connection method | PSD2-licensed open banking via Powens. Read-only by design. | Manual entry, CSV import, broker statement parsing, and a growing set of direct broker API integrations. |
| Refresh cadence | Daily, automatic. No manual touch. | Varies by source. Manual sources require you to upload; broker integrations refresh on their own schedule. |
| Geographic focus | United Kingdom and EU/EEA - UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Portugal, Czech Republic, Austria, Switzerland. | Strongest in UK, Australia, New Zealand. Global stocks supported via 40+ exchanges, but data must be brought in. |
| Tax wrappers | Surfaces ISA, SIPP, GIA (UK); PEA, assurance-vie, PER, compte-titres (FR); Depot/ETF Sparplan (DE); PIR/conto titoli (IT); cuenta de valores (ES); beleggingsrekening (NL). | Strong tax-report engine for ISAs (UK) and superannuation (AU). Tax reports run from imported holdings. |
| Tax reports (CGT, dividend) | Not in product scope today. Bank AI helps you see and act on your money; HMRC/HMRC-equivalent reporting is delegated to your broker or accountant. | Class-leading. Capital-gains, dividend, performance and contribution reports. |
| Cash and current accounts | First-class. Connect your bank accounts alongside brokers; cash sits in the same net-worth view. | Out of scope. Sharesight is a portfolio tracker, not a money app. |
| Crypto | Crypto exchanges (Binance, Bitpanda, Coinbase, Kraken, Crypto.com) included alongside investments. Native on-ramp in build. | Limited. Some crypto via manual entry; not the focus. |
| AI assistant | Built in. Ask questions like 'how much am I paying in fund fees this year' or 'how exposed am I to US tech across all my brokers'. | Not part of the product. |
| Custody | Read-only. Bank AI never holds cash, securities or crypto. | Read-only. Sharesight never holds assets. |
| Pricing | Free during waitlist / pre-launch (2026). Pricing for paid tiers will be published before general release. | Free for one holding; paid plans from around GBP 15-17 per month (Investor) up to GBP 45+ per month (Pro), tiered by holdings count. |
Why investors pick Bank AI over Sharesight
Three things show up most often in the conversations we have with investors who switch.
No more CSV reconciliation
PSD2 open banking means positions arrive automatically. You stop being your own data pipeline and start spending your time on what to do with the money.
One app for cash, investments and crypto
Sharesight focuses on the investment slice. Bank AI sees your current accounts, your ISA, your SIPP, your PEA, your assurance-vie and your crypto wallets in one place - the actual shape of European wealth in 2026.
An AI you can ask questions
'What is my UK-listed exposure if I exclude my SIPP', 'where am I bleeding money on FX', 'show me dividend cash hitting next month'. Spreadsheets and CSV-fed trackers cannot answer those questions.
Frequently asked questions
Is Bank AI a Sharesight clone?
No. Sharesight is a deep portfolio tracker with a strong tax-report engine. Bank AI is a money app: cash, investments, pensions and crypto in one daily-refreshed view, connected through PSD2-licensed open banking with an AI assistant on top. The two products overlap on portfolio visibility and diverge on almost everything else.
Can I import my Sharesight data into Bank AI?
We do not support a Sharesight-CSV importer today, by design. Bank AI rebuilds your portfolio from your actual broker connections through PSD2 open banking, so the data is live rather than a snapshot. If your broker is in our coverage list, you'll see your positions within minutes of connecting.
Does Bank AI replace Sharesight's tax reports?
No. If you rely on Sharesight for HMRC capital-gains reports, dividend reports or contribution summaries, keep using it - that is its strongest feature. Bank AI surfaces the right tax wrapper (ISA / SIPP / PEA / assurance-vie / Depot / PIR / cuenta de valores) and lets you ask the AI questions about your portfolio, but does not produce the formal reports an accountant would file.
Does Bank AI work outside the UK and EU?
Today, no. Coverage is the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area. If you hold most of your wealth in Australia, New Zealand or the US, Sharesight's geographic spread is the better fit; that's exactly the case we suggest staying.
Is Bank AI cheaper than Sharesight?
Bank AI is free for waitlist users during the 2026 pre-launch period. Pricing for paid tiers will be published before general release. Sharesight's paid tiers start around GBP 15-17 per month and rise to GBP 45+ per month, tiered by number of holdings.
How is the data refreshed?
Daily, automatically, through PSD2-licensed AISP partners. There are no CSV uploads, no manual reconciliation, no broker-by-broker login juggle. If a broker temporarily disconnects (consent renewal, password change), Bank AI will tell you and walk you through reconnecting in one tap.
