USDT is a stablecoin pegged to the US dollar. The peg can deviate in stress events; the issuer's reserve composition and redemption rights are governed by Tether Limited's terms. This page is marketing communication; it is not investment, tax or legal advice.
USDT across chains
USDT on Ethereum (ERC-20), Tron (TRC-20), Solana (SPL), BNB Chain and the other supported chains is summed into one USDT exposure with the FX-converted home-currency value.
Exchange vs. self-custody split
USDT held on Binance, Bitpanda, Crypto.com, Coinbase or Kraken is read separately from USDT in your MetaMask or hardware-wallet, so the centralised-exchange exposure is clear.
Stablecoin sleeve in net worth
USDT plus other USD-pegged stablecoins are aggregated into a 'stablecoin sleeve' alongside your fiat cash so you see the real USD exposure across pillars.
Earn / staked USDT
Where exchanges expose Earn or staked USDT balances (e.g. Binance Earn, Crypto.com Earn), the staked portion is tagged separately with its yield.

Is USDT a safe place to hold dollars?
USDT is a private stablecoin issued by Tether Limited. The peg is backed by Tether's published reserves and is generally close to 1:1, but the redemption right is governed by Tether's terms - it is not a bank deposit and is not covered by FSCS, FDIC or equivalent. Bank AI surfaces USDT balances factually but does not endorse any particular stablecoin over another.
Why is the USDT balance shown across multiple chains?
USDT exists as ERC-20 on Ethereum, TRC-20 on Tron, SPL on Solana and a handful of other chains. The same dollar of USDT can live on any of them. Bank AI reads each chain separately so you can see exactly where your USDT is, then sums them for total exposure.
Does Bank AI custody USDT?
No. USDT held on a connected exchange is custodied by the exchange. USDT held in your MetaMask or hardware wallet stays under your control - Bank AI is read-only. USDT bought through the embedded wallet is held in your non-custodial MPC wallet; Bank AI never has access to the full key.
Are exchange Earn / staked USDT balances tracked?
Yes. Where the exchange exposes the Earn / staked balance via its API, it is read into Bank AI as a separate sub-balance with its yield, so the locked-up portion is clear.
Does Bank AI calculate tax on stablecoin movements?
No - Bank AI is a money app, not a tax tool. Stablecoin sells and crypto-to-stablecoin trades can be taxable events depending on your jurisdiction. We export the full transaction history so a specialist tool (Koinly, CoinTracking, CoinLedger) or your accountant can compute the right outcome.
Will MiCA's stablecoin rules affect USDT availability in Bank AI?
MiCA's e-money-token (EMT) and asset-referenced-token (ART) rules restrict which stablecoins can be offered on EU/EEA exchanges. Some EU exchanges have already adjusted their USDT listings. Bank AI surfaces whatever USDT balance the user actually holds at a connected venue; we do not gate the read-only view on local availability.
